I am in awe of how the late summer/early fall, warm, low sunlight can change a plain scene into a multidimenstional picture: very emotional, daydream-evoking, beautiful in the simplest and yet the most striking way. Obvioulsy, it can go all wrong - those are the cheesy shots of people running through fields and holding hands amidst golden leaves. Yet, that kind of natural light brings out all the layers and plays with the qualities of a subject, shifting the picture far from flat or boring. It's not just in photography; I love this scene just because of how aesthetically pleasing to the eye it is, all thanks to that sunset palette. The saturation, warmth of colors has something universally comforting to it. Impressionists went crazy for it, and therefore I see no reason not to do the same.

#2 people can do the most amazing of things

I've been looking for the Kisses album ("The Heart of the Nightlife") since May or June with no success, so in the end I just reached out to iTunes and downloaded the thing. It's been playing on repeat for two weeks now, with pauses just to listen to whatever else is included in here-posted mix, which has dance-around-the-room tracks just as well as the ones that you really notice end for a minute or two, like Flunk's Play
It was supposed to be a motivational compilation, but didn't really end up that way. Instead, it has proved to be a great soundtrack to all of those activities that don't involve your mind, like unpacking and cleaning up.

margaux lonnberg

Margaux Lonnberg aka the superskinny girl in self-designed, barely-there t-shirts. Which seem just perfect. A girl can never have too many of those I-just-rolled-out-of-bed tops. I really like the hair&make-up here, they go so well with the feel of the clothes. My mom would probably recommend a shower here (maybe MacDonald's, too), but since messy and slept in hit the runways with Proenza Schouler etc a couple of seasons ago, showers seem to be so not cool!

You can buy the t-shirts on Lonnberg's website. You will also find more models and photos there, as well as the story behind the project. Or you could always take an old, worn out tee, grab a pair of scissors and let the the magic begin, although the DYI cutting is never as easy as it sounds.

Have a nice Wednesday, it's time to hit the books!

#1 house to home

I haven't been home in a while and, as fall approaches and everything turns greyish, I start to miss it.
So I made a compilation of songs that make me want to grab a cup of hot tea and wrap up in blankets;
a rather unvaried mix with a cosy, home-y feel to it, something to nap to while stretching out on a couch.

1. Your Protector - Fleet Foxes
2. To Just Grow Away - The Tallest Man on Earth
3. Sunday Morning - The Velvet Underground
4. Heroes - David Bowie
5. Jacking the Ball - The Sea and Cake
6. In the Sun - She & Him
7. My Own Sinking Ship - Good Old War
8. Postcards from Italy - Beirut
9. Wood - Rostam
10.  Going Home - The Branches
11. Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want - The Smiths
12. That Dress Looks Nice On You - Sufjan Stevens
13. I'll Try Anything Once - The Strokes
14. Towers - Bon Iver
